Services

Child-Friendly Facility
Each Center is designed to make children feel safe and comfortable while they are being interviewed regarding the alleged abuse. Audio and video equipment is used to preserve the interview for evidence and eliminate the need for multiple interviews.

Multidisciplinary Team
Professionals from several different agencies collaborate on each child’s case. This team approach increases coordination among child protection and criminal justice agencies, allowing them to track a child’s progress through the investigation, judicial process, and treatment.

Support Services
Aftercare is a critical component of the Children’s Justice Center process. The Centers provide resources to help foster healing to children who’ve been abused and their families. This includes therapy, medical care, and resources to help meet the child’s needs.

Forensic Interviews
Specially trained professionals talk to a child about the alleged abuse.  The goal is to minimize trauma to the child by reducing the number of times a child must talk about his or her experiences, and to ensure that the interview is conducted in a neutral, legally sound fashion.

Medical Examinations
Centers provide medical examinations to safeguard children’s health, reassure the child that their bodies are okay and can help a child understand that the abuse was not their fault.  Exams may be utilized in court for evidence purposes.  Many Centers have onsite medical rooms staffed through a partnership with Primary Children’s Hospital; other Centers utilize a local medical professional sensitive to children’s needs.
